Question

This task (questions 1 and 2) addresses the key concept of systems and focuses on criterion \(\mathbf{A}\) (Knowing and understanding). Biological systems are ofterthinterdependent.

1 a .The images show a bacterial cell and an animal cell.(2 marks)

The table below lists some features of cells. Identify which feature is present in each type of cell.

▶️Answer/Explanation

Ans: Mitochondria, cell wall, cell membrane and nucleus it’s present in bacterial cell while cell wall is absent in nucleus.

Question

1 b. Scientists use models to help them visualize smaller parts and relationships within systems. The images below are two different models of animal cells. (2 marks)

Outline two advantages of the three-dimensional (3D) model of the cell.

▶️Answer/Explanation

Ans: 1) 3D models help scientists to visualize smaller parts and relationships within systems, as we can see images given below of two different models of animal cells.

2) 3D models can be created for studying the cell structures or organs in the body. Such models represent the image with respect to their length, width and height and hence can be ideal for the display of physiological and anatomical structures.
