Question (3 marks)

In this task you will investigate sides and perimeters of trapeziums.

Show that the diagonal of the trapezium is 5 units.

▶️Answer/Explanation

Ans:

$\begin{gathered}3^2+4^2 \\ \sqrt{25}\Rightarrow 5\end{gathered}$

Question (2 Marks)

In the diagram below, angles $\rm {A B C, A C D}$ and $\rm{A D E}$ are $90^{\circ}$. The lengths $A B, B C$, and $D E$ are $9 \mathrm{~cm}, 12 \mathrm{~cm}$ and $20 \mathrm{~cm}$ respectively.

Find the length of $\rm{AC}$

▶️Answer/Explanation

Ans:

Using Pythagoras in $\triangle \rm{ABC}$

$\rm{AC}^2=12^2+9^2\Rightarrow 225$
