Core Level: Designed for students aiming for grades C to G.
Extended Level: For students aiming for grades A* to E.

iGCSE uses an A* to G grading scale, with A* being the highest and G the lowest.

Whether CBSE or iGCSE is “harder” is subjective and depends largely on individual learning styles and strengths.

Both curriculums have their own challenges and focus areas.
Key Differences in Approach:

CBSE: Often characterized by a more structured, content-heavy approach, with a focus on theoretical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
iGCSE: Emphasizes independent learning, critical thinking, and practical application. The assessment methods, including coursework and projects, can differ significantly from CBSE.

There is no universally agreed-upon ranking of the hardest A-Level subjects, as difficulty can depend on individual strengths and weaknesses.  However , based on Students feedback , some of the toughest contenders are:

  • Additional Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Computer Science

Leading universities in the US require Cambridge International AS & A Levels for admissions, but some colleges and universities will accept students with five Cambridge IGCSEs or Cambridge O Levels at grade C or above.
