Question (7 Marks)
Some creators make videos that are very popular and viewed by many people on video-sharing platforms.Advertisers pay the creators to have their advertisement included in the video. Some viewers prefer to skip advertisements and some prefer to watch the full view. A full view is only counted in earning if the viewer watches the whole advertisement.
A creator uploaded a video and received 623775 views.
The pie chart shows the views of the advertisements.
Question (a) : 1 marks
Determine the number of full views.
▶️Answer/Explanation
Ans:
To determine the number of full views, we need to calculate $20\%$ of the total views, which is $623,775$.
$\text{Number of Full Views} = 20\% \times 623,775$
To find $20\%$ of a number, we multiply the number by 0.20.
$\text{Number of Full Views} = 0.20 \times 623,775$
$\text{Number of Full Views} = 124,755$
Therefore, the number of full views is $124,755$.
Question (b) : 3 marks
Calculate the profit made by the creator.
▶️Answer/Explanation
Ans:
Given:
Number of full views, $N = 124,755$
Fee paid to the video-sharing platform, $F = \$150$
Earnings per 1000 views, $E = \$4$
To calculate the profit, we first need to convert the number of full views to thousands. Let’s denote the number of full views in thousands as $N_{\text{thousands}}$:
$N_{\text{thousands}} = \frac{N}{1000}$
Substituting the given value for $N$:
$N_{\text{thousands}} = \frac{124,755}{1000} = 124.755$
Now, we can calculate the earnings from the full views by multiplying the number of full views in thousands by the earnings per 1000 views:
Earnings from full views = $N_{\text{thousands}} \times E$
Substituting the values:
Earnings from full views = $124.755 \times 4 = \$499.02$
Finally, we can calculate the profit by deducting the platform fee from the earnings:
Profit = Earnings from full views – Fee paid to the platform
Profit $= \$499.02 – \$150$
Profit $= \$349.02$
Therefore, the profit made by the creator is $\$349.02.$
