[h] SL 3.3 Applications of trigonometry

[q] Pythagorean Theorem

[a] \(a^2+b^2=c^2\)

[q] Angle of Elevation

[a] This is the angle formed between the horizontal line of sight and the line of sight looking upward at an object above the horizontal. It is used to measure the height of objects or structures.

[q] Angle of Depression

[a] This is the angle formed between the horizontal line of sight and the line of sight looking downward at an object below the horizontal. It is used to measure the distance to objects below the observer.

[q] Bearings

[a] This is used in navigation to describe a direction from one point to another, measured clockwise from North.

[q] Real world applications.

[a] Trigonometry is a fundamental tool in a wide range of fields that involve calculations related to angles, distances, and measurements.
