▶️Answer/Explanation

(a)(i): $25.20$
(a)(ii): $5.67$
(b)(i): $25$
(b)(ii): $104$
(c): $4.30$, $2.15$ (and later corrected to $303.60$)
(d)(i): $2$ hours $35$ minutes
(d)(ii): $1705$
(e): 303.6[0]

Detailed Answer

(a)(i)
$
\text{Total cost} = 4 \times 6.30 = 25.20
$
So, the total cost for 4 tickets is $\$25.20.$

 (ii)
$
\text{Total cost} = 9 \times 6.30 = 56.70
$
$
\text{Cost per person} = \frac{56.70}{10} = 5.67
$
Each person must pay $\$5.67.$

(b)

(i)
$
\text{Number of rows} = \frac{650}{26} = 25
$
So, there are 25 rows.

(ii)
$
\text{Occupied seats} = 84\% \times 650 = 0.84 \times 650 = 546
$
$
\text{Unoccupied seats} = 650 – 546 = 104
$
So, 104 seats are not occupied.

(c)

Let the cost of a bottle of water be $\$x.$
The cost of a bag of popcorn is $\$2x.$

Total spent
$
x + 2x = 10 – 3.55
$
$
3x = 6.45
$
$
x = \frac{6.45}{3} = 2.15
$
So,
The cost of a bottle of water is $\$2.15.$
The cost of a bag of popcorn is $\$4.30.$

(i) $\text{60 minute = 1 hour}$
$
155 \text{ minutes} = 2 \text{ hours } 35 \text{ minutes}
$

(ii)
$
14:45 + 2 \text{ hours } = 16:45
$
$
16:45 + 20 \text{ minutes } = 17:05
$
So, the film finishes at $17:05$ (5:05 PM).

(e)

Total hours before 18:00
$
5.5 + 5.5 + 5 = 16
$
Hourly rate before 18:00
$
11.50
$
Total pay before 18:00
$
16 \times 11.50 = 184
$

Overtime Pay (After 18:00)

Total hours after 18:00
$
4 + 4 = 8
$
Hourly rate after 18:00 (30% more than 11.50)
$
11.50 + (0.30 \times 11.50) = 11.50 \times 1.3 = 14.95
$
Total pay after 18:00
$
8 \times 14.95 = 119.60
$
Total pay
$
184 + 119.60 = 303.60
$
